Shelby American has been warning us for days. A new monster was about to see the light of day. And here it is. It is the Ford Mustang Super Snake with 830+ horsepower. Only 250 such cars will be made for the US market.
After thousands of hours spent on the track, the dyno, and in the design studio, Shelby American rolls out the 2024 Shelby Super Snake. The limited-run 2024 Shelby Super Snake took the performance community by storm after weeks of teaser photos.
The model was officially unveiled during an event organized by Barret-Jackson in Palm Beach, Florida. Rolled out by the wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc., the model has been designed to be the highest-performing Shelby Super Snake in history.
Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American, says this car follows Carroll Shelby's vision that each new generation should improve the breed. And it does, indeed. To build the all-new Super Snake, the team in Las Vegas partnered up with Ford Motor Company, Whipple, and several other companies.
Shelby American offers the Mustang Super Snake in both 480 and 830+ horsepower versions, with the latter going straight into supercar territory. The extra oomph is there thanks to a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. Customers can go for either an automatic or, the purists' favorite, a roam-your-own transmission for both the fastback and convertible body styles. The manual versions get a Shelby shifter ball.

The muscle car is equipped with a retuned suspension and an upgraded exhaust for better airflow. The brakes and cooling were also reworked to match the extra performance of the Super Snake.
It is the first Shelby American-badged creation based on the new-generation S650 Ford Mustang and most likely, several will make it to the market in the coming years. Vince La Violette, Vice President of Operations and Senior Designer, says that the 2024 version is the most technically sophisticated Shelby Super Snake in history. It is also the most powerful, overtaking the Mustang GTD in the process.
All the extra performance spins around the addition of much more power and keeping the weight under control. The Shelby American experts were able to juggle with the weight by fitting a new aluminum hood and carbon fiber fenders that are not there just for the show, but also help with the airflow.
New carbon fiber rocker panel extensions, a ducktail spoiler, and a carbon diffuser make the 2024 Mustang Super Snake look venomous. The model rides on lightweight magnesium alloy wheels, while the light carbon fiber tail wing brings all the necessary downforce, keeping the suspension firmly planted.
Meanwhile, Shelby American reuholstered the seats and put its logo everywhere to make sure anyone getting on board instantly realizes that they are dealing with quite a special pony.
Only 250 cars will be built in 2024, and all for the US market, a figure that will make them ultra-rare and turn them into collectors’ dream muscle cars. International partners will get limited numbers.
Each Shelby American-made car is documented in the official Shelby Registry, with its own Individual CSM number. This ensures the collectability of these models, indicating when each of them is manufactured. Production is expected to begin this summer. That is probably when we will find out the price of the 2024 Shelby American Ford Mustang.
