A driver was caught on camera while zigzagging in traffic. Not because he wanted to overtake the car in front of him, but because he was so drunk that he was unable to keep straight. Crashing seemed just a matter of time. The dangerous situation escalated quickly, and he eventually slammed his sedan into a van parked on the side of the road.
Driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent or higher is illegal in the United States. There are states around the world where the legislation shows zero tolerance for drinking and driving. A simple breathalyzer or blood test can send a driver to court within seconds. That is where this driver is probably going after he is discharged from the hospital.
A dashboard camera caught the driver wiggling in his Toyota Corolla, on a road in Boston, Massachusetts. Recklessly swerving from one side to the other, the man seems to be traveling with a guardian angel in the passenger seat.
First, he goes left as a pickup truck with a trailer comes from the opposite direction. The drunk driver manages to get back into his lane on time. He seems inches away from rear-ending the SUV traveling in front of him before he goes off the tarmac into a pothole full of water and back to the road again.
"Stay back a little bit," the front passenger recommends to the driver of the car in which the camera is, most likely aware that the driver in front crashing is only a matter of time.
The drunk driver goes right and avoids crashing into a light pole on the side of the road before swerving left in front of an oncoming truck. Once again, his guardian angel must have cut and the driver miraculously manages to return to his lane at the very last moment. It is obvious that the driver has no chance to keep that Toyota going straight.
His journey eventually comes to an end as he crashes into a white Chevrolet van, which is parked on the side of the road. The ones filming everything pull over and check on the driver. He is alright, just very drunk and unaware of everything that has just happened.
The two of them call 911. Minutes later, an ambulance takes the impaired driver to the hospital. He will undergo a blood test, which will show the exact concentration of alcohol in his blood.
The police are running an investigation. The driver is charged with DUI.
People in the comments blame those filming the drunk driver for failing to call the police. But it is uncertain if they did call 911 or not before the crash took place. Either way, a crash was just a matter of time.
