Usually, when you have three amazing cars, you put all of them side-by-side, someone gives the signal, and it's on. But this isn't your typical 1/4-mile drag race because they're going at it 1v1 this time. Nobody knows exactly why, but maybe we'll find some clues along the way. Let's see which stands out on top: the BMW M3 Competition, Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, or the fan-favorite Chevy Camaro ZL1.
Coming hot after last week's race between a 2023 Honda Type R and a same-year Toyota Supra, it's time for more great cars to face each other on the ol' 1/4-mile drag strip.

In case you were curious, the Supra crushed the Type R like child's play. The Toyota sportscar finished first in 12.4 seconds and got from 0-60 mph (0-96.5 kph) in 3.9 seconds, while the Honda did the 1/4-mile in 13.9 seconds and floored it from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds.

Sam from the "Sam CarLegion" YouTube channel was in the Honda Type R and blamed it on wheelspin, but who can truly know what actually happened that faithful day...

Circling back to our starting line, let's check out our contestants. First, we have the all-time great Chevy Camaro ZL1 edition. Under the hood, it packs a gorgeous-sounding 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that can output 650 hp with 650 lb-ft of torque.

This top-of-the-line ZL1 RWD beauty would cost you around $72,000, depending on where you live. If you can afford it, you can go even higher and add the 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package for an extra $7,500.

Its rival is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio which comes with a more modest 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 capable of producing 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. It's also RWD and has a spicier price: almost $83,000.

After the race, the winner will go against the BMW M3 Competition, which won't run on the xDrive mode for fairness. The M3 comes with a 3.0-liter straight-six engine that can deliver 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The starting price is around $84,000, the most expensive one from the trio.

Finally, it's off to the races between the Giulia and the ZL1. Before the main event, they went best out of three roll races. The Corvette won the first two, with the Alfa Romeo winning the third one.

Then, the ZL1 was all over the Giulia during the drag races. It didn't give it an inch. It won two in a row without breaking a sweat. The Giulia didn't have enough power to stay neck and neck.

The Chevy finished the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds and got from 0-60 mph (0-96.5 kph) in 3.3 seconds, while the Alfa Romeo finished in 11.9 seconds and accelerated from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. The takeaway is that the Camaro ZL1 is cheaper and performs much better, at least on the tarmac.

Then, it was time for the Chevy to race the BMW. The ZL1 annihilated the latter in the roll races, just like it did with the Giulia. After that came the 1/4-mile drag race with the BMW in RWD mode. The M3 won by a hair length.

The second time, they put the M3 Competition in xDrive mode, and it destroyed the ZL1 as soon as they got the signal. The M3 left the ZL1 in the dust and finished in 11 seconds flat and got from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. The Camaro did it in 11.6 seconds and got from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds.

While it won fair and square, the M3 is $11,000 more than the ZL1, which couldn't have gone unsaid. All in all, a great and exciting Canadian-based race.
