In the world of drag racing, it's all fine and dandy with fancy Mercs, Porches, and other posh vehicles. Still, if a purebred American muscle car isn't involved, it can get a bit stale for the viewer. This is why, today, we can rejoice and witness the mighty 2023 Camaro SS go against the 2023 BMW M2. Remember, no matter what happens on the tarmac, they're both fantastic feats of engineering. Especially the exterior of that Camaro. Am I right, or am I right?
Before we see these two gorgeous cars in action, let's first size them up and see what each brought to the fighting ring, or strip, if you will.

We're starting with the 2023 BMW M2, which costs 63,000 US dollars or 79,000 Canadian currency. This model has a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine that produces a respectable 453 horsepower or 459 ps with 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.

It's rear-wheel drive, obviously, with a 6-speed manual, and weighs 3,750 lbs, or 3,750 kg if you don't hail from the United States.

The M2 is a fine piece of machinery, but the 2023 Camaro SS isn't anything to scoff at, especially not with those sexy looks. It's also much cheaper than the BMW, priced at $40,000 or 55,000 Canadian dollars.

Under the hood, it hides an amazing-sounding 6.2-liter V8 powerplant that can produce 455 hp (461 ps) with 455 lb-ft or 617 Nm of torque. It's also RWD, of course, with a 6-speed manual transmission system, and a bit lighter than the Beemer, at 3,686 lbs. or 1,672 kilograms.

Behind the wheel of the BMW M2 is Sam from the Sam CarLegion YouTube channel, who's running this entire show. It's all taking place in Canada, so if you were wondering what's with the Canadian pricing, well... there you go.

Before the main drag racing event, the drivers first went for a couple of roll races. The first and second attempts had them starting, or rolling, from 32 mph or 50 kph in second gear. On the third and final try, they upped the ante to 43 mph or 70 kph, but still in 2nd gear.

On the first try, they were neck and neck for a while, but the 3.0-liter BMW gained a massive advantage over the 6.2-liter Camaro and won without breaking a sweat. The Chevy tried to get even on the second try but lost considerably. However, in a shocking twist, the Camaro won the last roll race at higher speeds, which indicates that the Chevy performs better as it goes faster.

Finally, it was time for the drag events. For the first one, the BMW was quicker to the finish line, but not by much. Sadly for the American brand, the second time, it performed worse, making the BMW the winner of the day by far.

Their best 1/4-mile times were 3.9 seconds from 0-60 mph and 12.6 seconds for the BMW, and 4.1 seconds with 12.9 seconds for the Camaro SS.
