Well, this is a bit of a strange one, isn’t it? I wouldn’t go as far as to call this a luxury dump truck, but the term ‘premium’ wouldn’t necessarily be an understatement. This Peterbilt 567 boasts an amazing spec for something that’s meant to carry out its existence by literally doing all the dirty work.
Before we get into the spec, let’s talk about the 567 series which was unveiled back in 2013 as a Class 8 heavy-duty truck. It's roughly the same size as a 367, but with a cab design that mirrored what you got in the 579 (although the 389 headlights might throw some people off).

Today’s Peterbilt 567 is more rugged, reliable and versatile than ever. Not to mention more comfortable. It’s even got a lane departure warning system to go with its backup warnings, tire pressure monitoring and programmable safety interlocks.

Other highlights include the one-piece windshield, sloped hood (opens to a full 90 degrees), a stainless-steel crown and grille, an aluminum cab, high-capacity frame, plus a modern interior with amenities such as an ergonomic dashboard which includes a 15-inch digital display. The 567 is what you might call overqualified for dump truck duties. These are also known as excellent car carriers.

Anyway, back to this violet-colored 567, which features a dump truck configuration (of the Quint Axle variety). It’s a Day Cab truck (no Sleeper section), and it only comes with a single 26” aluminum 110-gallon fuel tank, which is normal seeing as how it’s not meant for covering great distances.

It also boasts an Air Trac suspension, a high-lift tailgate, a slide tarp system, LED marker lights, strobes and so on. It even has a load camera inside the bed. Speaking of what’s inside, the Platinum-spec cabin comes with vinyl seats, air conditioning, cruise control, a multifunction steering wheel – just about everything you need on a daily basis.

As for performance, you’ll find a Cummins X15 straight-six turbodiesel under that long hood, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Fun fact: Most modern-day 567 series models seem to feature Paccar MX turbodiesels instead of the Cummins version, which makes sense seeing as how the former are generally regarded as being more fuel efficient.

Dump truck for the price of a new McLaren?

Basically, yes, that’s what you’re looking at. It’s not even an entry-level McLaren, but rather the epic 750S, which happens to be one of the fastest cars ever built by human hands, delivering hypercar-like performance for supercar money.

It goes without saying that if all you need is a dump truck for clearing out debris or who knows what, spending over $300k on this brand-new Peterbilt might not be the best decision. You can get something similar, albeit a bit older and with more miles on the clock, for roughly $200,000, maybe even less.

Yes, unfortunately dump trucks do tend to be rather expensive. The only way you can truly save a lot of money is by purchasing something that’s properly old, like from the mid-2000s, if not older.

Oh, and before I forget, let me just clarify that calling this Peterbilt the world’s “most expensive dump truck” was a bit tongue-in-cheek. It’s definitely one of the most expensive semi-truck-based dump trucks you can find, but otherwise you can easily come across even more expensive models if you start looking at those massive quarry and mining trucks. Those things will set you back millions of dollars.
