There's No Need for Separate Race and Daily Cars If This Audi RS 6 Avant Turns Real

The Ingolstadt-based automaker is a lot subtler than either Mercedes-Benz or especially BMW these days. In America, though, that quality is becoming increasingly appreciated.
Out of the German luxury triumvirate members, the most likely to be nominated as bland in any situation is Audi, for sure. Its models are mostly inconspicuous, unlike Mercedes, which is full of little three-point stars these days, and BMW, which is obviously aiming to stand out in any crowd, especially the wrong ones.

Suppose you look at the latest novelties from Audi America. In that case, there aren't a lot of things that catch our attention for more than a few minutes – the 2023 Audi Q7 is just the latest of five models to receive the highest IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, the 2024 Audi Q8 and SQ8 got a slew of dynamic exterior design upgrades and more technology, while the Audi TT Roadster Final Edition celebrates the end of the road for the once-innovative-now-obsolete sports car.

However, do note that Audi also reports a 26% increase in sales after the first three quarters of the year, complete with BEV deliveries jumping 94%. So, they must be doing something right. If you need an example about what they are doing correctly, we could easily think about the 2024 Audi RS 6 Avant, a model that costs no less than $125,800 but also feels like the mother of all Audis as it bundles the feeling of an executive car with the practicality of a station wagon and the performance of a track-day sports model.

Powered by the 4.0-liter V8 TFSI twin-turbo mill from Volkswagen Group, this is my dream ride because I now like station wagons (that's thanks to my two kids) just as much as I love sports cars. With the 'performance' version developing 621 horsepower, the RS 6 Avant can easily take you to all weekly routine activities and then switch your persona into a veritable track monster during the weekends. But what if you want this mighty Audi Sport also to look like it could dominate anything that crosses its path?

Well, leave it to the imaginative realm of digital car content creators to give us some pointers. For example, the UK-based 3D automotive concept artist better known as AVANTE (now avante.dsn on social media) has decided to create a fresh RS 6 body kit inspired by what he saw at the 2023 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. And it's a sight to behold, indeed.

Dressed in a purple shade that would make any Plum Crazy Mopar fan blush with joy, the Audi RS 6 Avant got slammed into the ground to the point of making ants duck for cover. It also packs a wild aerodynamic kit with widebody elements – and you can't miss the details because most of the components are done in gloss black. Given all the canards and rear wings, you might think that this is one Audi that could easily take off into the sunset – but it will probably stay glued to the ground.

Anyway, if you want to see something 'normal' from the pixel master, we also embedded, second below, his take on the upcoming 2025 Toyota GR Yaris facelift – it takes lots of cues from the all-new Prius 'Hybrid Reborn' and integrates them with the body of the pocket-sized hot hatchback to lend it a certain charm and appeal. So, which is your favorite?
