2024 Ford Mustang deliveries kicked off in August 2023. On the other part of the Atlantic Ocean, the Ford Motor Company opened the order books for the S650 in Continental Europe and the UK today.
Over in Germany, which is the largest new car market in the Old Continent, prices kick off at €59,900 for the Mustang GT Fastback and €72,500 for the Mustang Dark Horse. Converted at current exchange rates, that means $65,150 and $78,850.

Pretty expensive, isn’t it? Be that as it may, bear in mind the 2024 Ford Mustang is – paradoxically – the most affordable new V8 car that money can buy in this part of the world. The same applies to the UK, where the online configurator lists starting prices of £55,685 and £65,585, respectively. Otherwise put, just around $70,975 and $83,595.

Similar to the S550, the seventh-generation Mustang is produced in right-hand drive at the factory in Flat Rock rather than converted to right-hand drive by a third party in the United Kingdom. By comparison, RMA Automotive remanufactures the F-150 pickup truck to RHD over in Australia.

As you can tell, European ponies are quite a bit pricier than their American stablemates. The Mustang GT Fastback carries a starting price of $42,710, whereas the Fastback-only Dark Horse is $59,485 at the very least. In Continental Europe and the United Kingdom, these fellows both come standard with manuals, namely a Getrag for the GT and a much superior Tremec for the Dark Horse.

The 10-speed auto understandably costs a bit extra. In Germany, the 10R adds 3,000 euros to the tally. Prospective customers in the United Kingdom have to pay 2,000 pounds sterling over the stick shift. If you're wondering why the Ford Motor Company doesn't offer the automatic-only EcoBoost over the pond, that's because FoMoCo retired the EcoBoost at the end of 2020 due to abysmally poor demand.

Similar to its predecessor, the S650 also happens to be down on power compared to the North America-spec model. You can blame CO2 emission regulations for that. In the GT's case, the fourth-gen Coyote V8 belts out 334 kW (446 ps or 440 horsepower) as opposed to 480 or 486 in the United States. The Dark Horse is rated at 334 kW (453 ps or 447 horsepower) rather than 500 horsepower.

Even so, that's more than enough in a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe. We also have to remember that the GT and Dark Horse weren't designed to reign supreme on the drag strip. That's the job of the Shelby GT500, which – unfortunately – wasn't sold in the Old Continent. It's not known whether the S650-generation Shelby GT500 will be available in the EU and UK, but chances are that's a big fat no due to the aforementioned emission regulations.

Ford has already provided a sort of preview for the S650 GT500 with the GTD, a track-focused special edition whose Predator supercharged V8 develops an estimated 800 horsepower. The S550 GT500 started and ended production with 760 on tap. As opposed to all other road-going Mustangs, the GTD will be assembled in Canada by the folks at Multimatic. You know, the guys and gals who assembled the GT supercar on FoMoCo's behalf.
