Just because your plans are bold doesn’t mean your expenses have to match. For overlanding enthusiasts, there are a variety of solutions that offer camping essentials for shorter outings – and the VenturePack from Talus is one of the newest and most budget-friendly.
The idea for the VenturePack is to offer an all-in-one solution to every issue you might have when off-roading, aside from accommodation. Think of it as of the Swiss army knife of campers, without a camper.
Launched earlier this month with prices starting at $13,750, the VenturePack comes in different sizes and weights depending on the size of the bed of the pickup truck it’s for. It’s basically a powder-coated aluminum kit slash drawer box that slides into the bed of the truck. As a note, it’s compatible with the most popular pickups in the U.S. including the Ford F-150 / 250, Chevrolet Silverado / 2500, Ram 1500 / 2500, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and the Jeep Gladiator.
It includes camping essentials like a complete back-garden kitchen with a two-burner stove, sink with running water, a water pump hooked up to a water tank and water filtration system, a refrigerator drawer and counter space. There’s an external hose that allows you to use the water supply for stuff like hosing down muddy gear or your muddy self after a long day out.
The VenturePack includes several drawers for storage but, most importantly, it comes with dedicated electrical system that includes 200-Ah battery, inverter, battery charger, 120W folding solar panel, and outlets for plugging in and USB ports.
The VenturePack doesn’t include the proverbial roof over one’s head, but it comes close: Talus has partnered with 23Zero to allow customers to choose from a variety of pop-up tents that can sit just fine on top of the VenturePack. The cheapest model is $1,099 and there’s something for every budget and the kind of overlanding you have in mind (weekend, seasonal, all-year).
