Some will say that passing the baton is quite normal, indeed. Others will lament not just the departure of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 but also the TRX's retirement because that means they can't have the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 either. Instead, they'll have to downsize to a 540-hp Ram 1500 RHO.
Mark November 7, 2023, in your Mopar calendars, dear Ram Truck fans. Either in green if you're happy about the complete overhaul of the lineup brought alongside the mid-cycle refresh or in red if you're mourning about the loss of the mighty Hemi V8 options. Anyway, the deed is done.

As promised, Ram Trucks unveiled the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 series with fresh styling, a new flagship trim called Tungsten, as well as a tech-infused cabin featuring five digital screens. However, nobody might remember the new 14.5-inch touchscreen, the "segment-first" 10.25-inch passenger screen, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the digital rearview mirror, or the HUD.

Instead, all eyes are on the new powertrain options. The gas-powered section of the family still has the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 eTorque up for grabs, but that is where similarities with the 2024 model year lineup end. The new 2025 Ram 1500 made its global debut featuring three new powertrain options – the all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine family plus the first-ever 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger.

The Hurricanes are straight-six turbo mills with 420 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque or 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. They are quite capable, indeed – max towing capacity is 11,580 pounds, max payload is 2,300 pounds, and they can even ford into 24 inches of water. The Ramcharger, meanwhile, joins the 2025 Ram 1500 REV all-electric truck with two electric drive modules (EDMs) providing 663 horsepower and 615 lb.-ft. of torque.

That's good enough for towing up to 14,000 lbs. and a payload of up to 2,625 pounds while also targeting an astonishing range of up to 690 miles. However, there's a catch – the plug-in capability of the 92-kWh battery pack is doubled by a 3.6-liter V6 engine feeding an onboard 130-kW generator. Thus, Stellantis' reinvented Ramcharger morphed from a classic two-door full-size Dodge SUV into a range-extended full-size Ram EV pickup truck. But wait, as there is more crazy news.

The 2025 Ram 1500 will arrive at dealerships during the first quarter of 2024, followed by the all-electric 2025 Ram 1500 REV during the fourth quarter, and the all-new Ram 1500 Ramcharger at an even later date. In between them, during Q3 next year, a new Ram 1500 RHO will also join the range as the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX heir to the off-road throne. Alas, the big catch is that 702 horsepower is no longer available. Instead, the new Ram 1500 RHO will simply feature the same 540-hp output as the regular 1500 models with the Hurricane H/O (high output).
