Why would anybody buy a sports car and sell it 1,500 miles and a few months later? They probably had greater expectations from it. They just didn't have the chemistry that they were hoping to have with the vehicle. Now, the owner is trying to get rid of the brand-new 2024 BMW M3 CS and does not seem able to.
The hardcore version of the BMW 3 Series, the CS, is designed for lap times or finding the quickest way out of curves. It's stiff and crisp and everything in between, the way BMW M builds its sports cars. The CS, with the lettering standing for Competition Sport, carries over the controversial design with the in-your-face kidney grille of the 3er but gets extra oomph and reduced weight.

The sports car is powered by BMW's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter S58 inline six-engine, which generates 543 horsepower (550 metric horsepower) and 479 pound-feet (650 Newton meters of torque) of torque.

The engine is linked to the eight-speed auto box, which helps put the power down through all four wheels, with the assistance provided by the rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel drive system with an M Sport differential.

For extra fun in the company of the BMW M3 CS, drivers can switch off the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) to engage the rear-wheel-drive mode.

BMW helped the CS shed some pounds in order to squeeze it between the M3 and the range-topping M3 CSL in the M lineup and make it more agile. Mission accomplished. Due to the extensive use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, it weighs 75 pounds less than the standard M3.

The hood, front splitter, air intakes, rear air diffuser, side mirror caps, and roof are all made from carbon fiber. The lightweight material shows up on board as well, on the dashboard, center console, and shift paddles.

This is how the BMW M3 CS turned out to be quicker than the original M3, flashing from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 3.2 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than its sibling.

But all these might not be enough for the owner of this 2024 BMW M3 CS, who decided to get rid of their brand-new car after only 1,400 miles (2,253 kilometers) into their relationship. It is obvious that there is a mismatch there since they are breaking up so fast. The owner bought it new in Missouri last summer and just did not get along with it.

The BMW M3 CS shines bright in Frozen White

The model wears the Frozen Solid White paintwork over Anthracite Merino leather upholstery. The M3 CS rides on the look-at-me Gold Bronze-finished wheels, 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear, wrapped in 275/35 front and 285/30 Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

Red M-branded multi-piston front brake calipers at the front and single-piston calipers at the rear, plus cross-drilled rotors at all four corners provide the stopping power. The BMW M3 CS sports the adaptive M suspension, specifically tuned for the CS variant, with electronically controlled dampers.

The cabin is specced as a BMW cabin should be: there are heated M carbon bucket front seats with power adjustment, wrapped in Anthracite Merino leather with contrasting red accents. There is no word on the $18 heated seats monthly subscription in the listing, though.

The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara and sports a red mark at 12 o’clock. The driver can control the functions of the car and receive all the relevant information on the BMW Curved Display, which integrates the 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, united under a glass panel. The iDrive infotainment system offers navigation, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Specced as an M car should, but still hard to sell

The M3 CS seems to have it all. There is also a Harman Kardon surround-sound system on board the model, plus wireless charging and ambient lighting. The car had a short career on the road, with the odometer only showing 1,500 miles. The dealer offers it with a clean Carfax report and a clean Missouri title.

There are no signs of wear and tear on board because this car is virtually new, with only a couple of months spent on the road. Everything looks as if the M3 CS has just left the yard of the dealership where the Bavarian carmaker had delivered it.

The auction finished, and the car is still there as the reserve was not met. The final bidding was $106,000. When new, the BMW M3 CS starts at $119,695 in the United States, which is more than $42,000 over the basic M3. If they are still available, that is. BMW did not announce the exact numbers of production, but they were planning to build anywhere between 1,700 and 2,000 cars for the global market. That leaves the Americans with very few.
