On December 22nd, the final Chrysler L-platform vehicle rolled off the assembly line at Brampton Assembly Plant in Canada. The car in question is a Pitch Black Demon 170, which – coincidentally – is the most popular Demon 170 paint color of them all.
According to SRT Demon 170 admin Todd Kerr, no fewer than 3,301 examples of the breed were produced. Chrysler promised a grand total of 3,300 units: 3,000 for the United States and 300 for Canada. 671 of them were specified in Pitch Black. The second and third most popular colors are Sublime (416) and Plum Crazy Purple (389). By the way, did you know that John Hennessey owns a purple one?

The color palette further comprises Destroyer Gray (295), TorRed (289), Go Mango (257), White Knuckle (245), B5 Blue (192), Triple Nickel (169), Octane Red (109), F8 Green (91), Granite (72), Sinamon Stick (56), and Frostbite (50). Triple Nickel is the launch color, a color that – frankly speaking – is too insipid for a 1,025-horsepower land missile.

It should be mentioned that Chrysler offered 40 special-edition cars. The invitation-only Jailbreak program totals 28 rather than 40 cars, and Jailbreak-specific paint jobs add a whopping $30,000 to the price of the Demon 170. Those 28 vehicles were originally finished in Pitch Black.

Unfortunately, there's no list available for said colors. What is 100 percent clear is that Chrysler offered 20 classic colors and 20 one-off colors. At the very least, the Demon 170 Jailbreak retailed at $131,961 (including destination charge and gas guzzler tax).

Of the 3,301 units produced at Brampton Assembly Plant, 300 were built for Canada and 4 for export. The remaining 2,997 were delivered or are in the process of being delivered to customers in the United States. 826 vehicles were optioned with carbon-fiber wheels, and 773 cars were built with sunroofs.

Back in March 2023, the Dodge brand's configurator listed the 18- by 8-inch and 17- by 11-inch wheels at 11,495 freedom eagles or 18,995 maple bucks. The power sunroof used to retail at a staggering $9,995. Todd Kerr also understands that 50 vehicles were specified with one seat. 99 customers went for the full cloth interior, and 508 opted for the rear seat delete.

The Demon 170 isn't only the world's most powerful series-production muscle car. It's also tremendously fast in the quarter mile, with Dodge promising 8.91 seconds at 151.17 miles per hour (243.28 kilometers per hour) in the right configuration. Zero to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) takes 1.66 seconds, resulting in a g-force acceleration of 2.004 Gs.

Compatible with E85 and premium dino juice, Dodge's ultimate Challenger marks the bitter end of the Hellcat engine as well. In a matter of months, the 5.7-liter version of the HEMI will be discontinued from the options list of the Ram 1500 as well. The future of the 6.4 remains uncertain, but looking at the bigger picture, a turbo diesel is better suited than the 6.4er in the Ram 2500 and heavier-duty trucks.

With the Chrysler L platform now out of production, Brampton prepares for an extensive retooling process to support STLA Medium-based vehicle production. The next-gen Jeep Compass will be produced at Brampton, with the first shift returning to work in the fourth quarter of 2025. That, in turn, means that Jeep's next-gen Compass will be sold as a 2026 model.
