What used to be known as the Chrysler Corporation purchased the Brampton Assembly Plant from AMC back in August 1987. Fast forward to May 2022, and Stellantis confirmed massive investments for both Windsor and the Brampton Assembly Plant for electrified vehicle production. Emphasis on electrified because the next-generation Charger is coming in the form of a three-door liftback with twin-turbo inline-six and zero-emission powertrains.
Under the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, Brampton will be closed for the entirety of 2024 and much of 2025 to be retooled. Production will resume in the fourth quarter of 2025. Brampton will be modernized for the STLA Medium platform, which supports ICE and electric powertrains.

As per Unifor's agreements with Stellantis, the Brampton plant will gear up for the next-generation Jeep Compass. The Windsor assembly plant, on the other hand, will make the all-new Charger on the STLA Large platform. Speaking of which, the Charger has been confirmed to come back in the latter half of 2024 for the 2025 model year, with deliveries most likely starting in the first quarter of 2025.

It's not known whether the Challenger will ever come back. On the upside, we do know that the Charger's electric range will kick off with the 455-horsepower 340. At the other end of the spectrum, the Charger 440 promises up to 670 horsepower with the eStage2 upgrade. Higher still, the 800-volt Banshee powertrain is rumored with more than 800 horsepower to its name. Specifically, 885 ponies.

Regarding the inline-six engine, which is probably going to be paired with an eight-speed automatic, Stellantis calls the 3.0-liter mill Hurricane. Currently found in the Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and the 2025 model year Ram 1500, the Hurricane makes up to 540 horsepower and 541 pound-feet (706 Nm) from the factory. BMW M3 Competition who? Or better said, BMW M4 Competition because the 2025 model year Dodge Charger is a three-door affair.

As we're sitting here waiting for Stellantis to release further information on the 2025 Dodge Charger and other STLA Large-based vehicles, Stellantis has wrapped up 2023 Dodge Challenger production at Brampton. The final example of the breed is a 1,025-hp Demon 170. According to Rab McLarnon and the folks at LX & Beyond Nationals, the black-painted muscle car also marks the bitter end of the platform that gave us the four-door Charger and Chrysler 300 in 2004 for the 2005 model year.

Referred to as the L platform, the rear-biased architecture was conceived in the DaimlerChrysler era. Merc eventually sold Chrysler to a private equity firm in 2007, only for Fiat to acquire a stake in Chrysler in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Fiat became the majority stakeholder in 2011, thus creating FCA.

FCA became Stellantis in January 2021 by merging the Italo-American automaker with Groupe PSA, namely the French automaker that owns Peugeot and Citroen. From the standpoint of sales, Stellantis is the world's fourth-largest automaker. The largest of them all is – of course – the behemoth known as Toyota.

Under the strategic plan mentioned just earlier, Stellantis will further introduce the STLA Frame platform for body-on-frame vehicles. The very first of the bunch is the 2025 Ram 1500 REV, which offers a combustion-engined alternative in the form of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger. As opposed to the REV, the Ramcharger is based on the DT platform of the combustion-engined Ram line of pickup trucks.
