After a boring year that didn't bring anything new to the table, the 1986 Buick Grand National received a welcome upgrade in the engine department.
The carmaker came up with a modified engine upgrade, which allowed for an intercooler change specifically to obtain more performance. The Grand National now developed 235 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque.

Despite the engine refinements, the sales didn't increase substantially, with only 5,512 units produced in 1986.

One of them landed online not long ago, courtesy of Napoli Classics. The low-mile Buick is in incredible shape, coming with almost everything in tip-top shape despite having three owners since it rolled off the assembly lines.

It's a waste of time to discuss the car's condition, as the photos speak for themselves, but it's important to know that the car has never been restored. The first owner purchased the Grand National from Reese Motors in July 1986. However, the last owner put only 100 miles on the car, eventually deciding to let it go.

The Grand National is in nearly perfect condition and is 99% original. The only change is the exhaust system, with a previous owner installing it for unspecified reasons. The spec sheet includes power windows, door locks, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio system. The garage doesn't share more specifics, but given the car's shape, it's safe to assume everything works correctly (you should still check everything in person).

The car rolled off the assembly lines with a 3.8-liter V6 turbo engine, and the engine starts, runs, and drives beautifully. However, the chances are that you won't keep it on the road for too long, as the next owner will probably want to retain the storage and avoid adding too many miles on the clock. The odometer indicates only 17,300 miles (27,800 km), and they are all original.

As if a low-mile, beautifully preserved Grand National wasn't enough, the car also sells with original documentation, including the build sheet, the owner's manual, the warranty book, and the dealer invoice. It's almost a time capsule whose place is in a heated garage.

As anyone would expect, a rare Buick in almost showroom condition can't sell cheaply. The garage wants $59,000 for the Grand National, and while the expectation is a bit optimistic for a 1986 Buick, the low mileage and the 99% original shape make it a highly desirable Grand National that shouldn't struggle to find a new home.

If you want to see this Buick Grand National in person, you can find it in Milford, Connecticut. You shouldn't need a trailer to take it home, but considering the low miles on the clock, you might very well want to tow the vehicle to preserve the mileage.
