Every single time a Tesla Cybertruck goes out, people take photos and shoot videos of it, and every outing becomes viral. The owner of a DeLorean DMC-12 could not miss the opportunity. The two of them look like brothers from another mother.
You know how, every once in a while, young kids stand next to their elders, up on their heels, trying to show they have grown and they are not the shortest in the family anymore. Well, this is pretty much the same.

Over the weekend, a DeLorean DMC-12 pulled over next to a Tesla Cybertruck to check out how big the pickup actually is. Now, that is not a pair that you see every day. From the walkaround video, it is easy to see that the electric vehicle dwarfs the classic.

With its steel-like exteriors and futuristic design, the DeLorean looks like the Cybertruck’s brother from another mother. With the two parked side by side, you can tell from miles away that the EV is way bigger than the classic car. The Cybertruck is longer, wider, taller, not to mention the ground clearance.

But proportions aside, wouldn’t it be nice to see the DeLorean, with gullwing doors open, next to Tesla’s Model X with its falcon-wing doors?

The Cybertruck in the video is an RC, which stands for Release Candidate. It means that the prototype you are looking at is a beta version of the model, with a potential to be released, but still some issues may show up along the way.

The RC stickers show up on the driver’s side of the front bumper, on the front right door, and on the left side of the rear bumper. The model is registered in Texas, according to the registration plate.

The DeLorean DMC-12 standing right next to it, with the doors popped open, still can’t reach the height of the Cybertruck. The star of the Back to the Future blockbusters does look like it is on a trip to the future. If Doc Brown had seen this, he would have exclaimed: “Great Scott!,” his famous reaction whenever something amazed him. The Tesla Cybertruck is indeed something that would have amazed him.

Even though they sport similar angular shapes, the two of them are different like chalk and cheese. The DeLorean DMC-12 entered production in 1981 and hit the market that same year with a starting price of $25,000, the equivalent of $80,000 today. Only about 9,000 units were made.

Meanwhile, unveiled in November 2019, the Tesla Cybertruck entered low-volume production at Giga Texas in August. Back then, there were already 1.9 million people who pre-ordered the electric pickup truck. Mas production is set to start before the end of the year.
