Elon Musk drove the Cybertruck around Austin, Texas, and said it was fun. It is not the first time the company’s head honcho test-drives the electric pickup truck.
Musk was seen riding in the uncamouflaged vehicle with sharp angles over the past weekend. It was Musk himself who posted a photo of the prototype on his Twitter account on Sunday, admitting: "Just drove Cybertruck around Austin!"

His followers started asking about how it went. Not very generous about detailing the whole experience, he replied: “Was very fun!” He is probably not that enthusiastic about it since it is not his first time behind the wheel of the EV. He even drove it on Jay Leno’s show, taking the comedian through The Boring Company’s test tunnel, a 1.1-mile long underground strip in downtown Los Angeles.

Last year, he was also spotted driving a prototype on the grounds of the Giga factory in Austin. He was more impressed back then, calling the experience "awesome."

Another user asked him if a gun turret could be added to the Cybertruck, and Musk was positive. It might be a hint that he is planning on supplying the truck to the armed forces as well.

A video posted on Twitter shows the exact same truck that Elon Musk spotted, but there is surely someone else driving it.

The model is inching closer to production, scheduled, after numerous delays, sometime in the fall, before the handover event, scheduled for the end of Q3. Meanwhile, an ever-growing number of prototypes has been spotted all over the United States, but also in New Zealand, where the model was undergoing winter testing. It is a hint that Tesla is getting it ready for the start of production.

It might finally happen, four years after its official unveiling. Back then, in November 2019, everyone thought that Elon Musk was doing his usual publicity stunts. On the night of the reveal, he broke the unbreakable windows of the Cybertruck by hitting them with a baseball bat and then a metal ball. The glass shattered, and those on stage seemed completely dumbfounded. Hopefully, scratch- and dent-resistant stainless steel is stronger than what Tesla calls “bulletproof” windows.

Back then, Musk said that the electric truck would enter production in 2021.

Despite the predicament, reservations started rolling in. For a $100 dollar deposit, people could reserve a Cybertruck and could give up the reservation and have their money back at any time. There are currently 1.6 million people waiting for their Cybertruck, according to a crowdsourced reservation tracker not affiliated with Tesla.

Customers can choose one from the single-, Dual, Tri, and Quad-Motor versions. Rumours referring to Tesla possibly scrapping the single-motor variant have not been confirmed.
