The yachting world is very dynamic and in continuous change, with new designs being pushed to the limits of what is possible. That's because the demands of superyacht owners are also evolving. Customers are now more savvy and know exactly what they want out of their future watercraft, so each new yacht design unveiled to the public comes with an upgrade or innovation of some sort, be it in technology, design, layout, or facilities.
Spanish studio Rodriguez Design is acknowledging the fact that the profile of the modern superyacht owner is evolving by unveiling a concept meant to cater to a younger clientele, one that is looking for speed, style, and luxury. The latest design unveiled by the studio is a 207-foot (63-meter) superyacht called Azua that harmoniously blends sportiness with elegance for a sleek appearance and a memorable experience.

According to studio founder Josh Rodriguez, young yacht owners are no longer attracted by traditional displacement vessels with bulky profiles and modest performance. Instead, they "are looking for the thrills of a fast boat and the comforts of a superyacht," so the Azua was designed with their needs in mind.

The first renderings of the new Azua concept showcase a four-deck vessel with a slender silhouette accentuated by a pointed bow. It features an elegant dark gray exterior matched by modern and sophisticated interiors penned by Ignacio Rodriguez.

The studio says the yacht is envisioned with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, while in terms of performance, a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M63L diesel engines will allow it to reach 22 knots (25 mph or 41 kph) at full tilt and leisurely cruise at 12 knots (14 mph or 22 kph), in which case, it will be able to cover 4,000 nautical miles (7,408 km). The studio puts that range into perspective by saying that it's “Perfect to catch a sunset in St. Tropez and be back in time for dinner in Monaco."

In terms of open-air areas, the yacht has an extensive beach club with an expandable swim platform meant to facilitate access to the sea. The beach house, meanwhile, integrates a casual seating area and a bar. The highlight at the stern are two 15-foot (4.5-meter) folding balconies that allow guests on board to truly connect with the surrounding ocean and enjoy the views.

A spacious lounging area is located aft on the main deck, while the upper deck houses alfresco dining for ten people and oversized sun pads. The yacht's sundeck accommodates a large jacuzzi flanked by yet more sun pads.

The interior has been designed as a "laid-back and welcoming area where owners can feel at home." Rodriguez went for an elegant, modern approach highlighted by light woods, pastel tones, and rose gold accents.

The Azua doesn't bring anything revolutionary in terms of layout, with the main deck housing a large saloon that seamlessly merges the seating and dining areas in an open-plan design and a full-beam owner's master suite stylishly decorated with warm rose gold accents and LED strip lighting.

Two double cabins, two VIP suites, and crew accommodation can be found on the lower deck, while the upper deck houses an observation lounge that offers 270-degree oceanic views and a secondary salon that could double as a games room.

With its sporty profile, elegant design, and fast-cruising capabilities, the Azua has what it takes to appeal to modern yacht enthusiasts of all ages.
