The Alfa MiTo Heads to the UK

Down here at Autoevolution we've always had a soft spot for Alfa's recent smallest venture. Now, the Italian manufacturer is planning to take over the land of Shakespeare with a very catchy (though overused) phrase “Alfa Romeo's new, compact and sporty Alfa Mito is coming to a dealer near you”.

The car will hit the showrooms in the British Isles next month , with every dealer in UK exhibiting static examples of the new Alfa. This move comes two months before the car's official release in England, on January 24, 2009.

This will be the UK public's first change to lay eyes upon the Italian small beauty, to get up close and personal this time, not like the British International Motor Show earlier this year, where they could see it from afar.

The MiTo boasts a series of feature that aren't found on any other model in this range, like a special electronic control system DNA (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) that adjusts the car to the road conditions and the driving style. Also, the MiTo uses a lot of technology that was implemented in the 8C Competizione, Alfa's supercar.

The announced price for the MiTo is 10,975 pounds for the entry level version with the 1.4 16V engine (95 bhp), the Turismo. The press release says that the MiTo qualified second best in a top made by CAP experts which involves retaining much of its value after three years and 60,000 miles (the MiTo scored a 47% value).

Orders for a test drive will be taken starting with November 1st at Alfa Romeo dealerships around the country.
