Don’t know if you see a pattern here, but after the Model S and X were defined by Tesla, the automaker said there will be another model in between them called the “III” (as in three). Putting them in order will pretty much spell “SEX” if you have a bit of imagination.
If that wasn’t enough, the company showed us the “D” earlier on and now Elon Musk says they’re working on a robotic “metal snake” to automatically hook up and recharge your batteries once the car is parked in the garage...

Jokes aside, it looks like the company is really onto creating the first automatic charger that snakes its way from the wall to the car’s plug. Freaky? Cool? You name it, but we think this is a bit of overkill.

First of all, how much of a lazy slob someone can be in order to need a robotized device to plug in their car to a socket? Is it that hard to open a small cap and stick a cord laying around into the plug inside?

And even so, why does Tesla need to engineer some sort of Alien tail to swivel around the garage to find the charging port on your car? There are robotic arms with sensors that can do it for less money and research. We understand wireless charging is somewhat slow and has energy losses, but come on...

Guess it’s all about showing off rather than doing something useful. Who knows, maybe the “solid metal snake” can be programmed to attack intruders wanting to get their hands on one of those Model S beauties. We’ll just have to wait and see.
