Tesla Opens South Florida Store

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors announced today it has opened a new store in Dania Beach, where test drives will be organized throughout the weekend. The store is located at 1949 Tigertail Boulevard in Dania Beach and is the newest regional hub for Tesla’s mobile squad.

"South Florida is a strong market and will be a strategic base for Tesla," Tesla CEO Elon Musk said. "From installing solar-powered street lights to promoting the advancement and adoption of electric vehicles, this forward-looking region has established itself as an environmental leader."

The announcement of the opening was made after the manufacturer announced its 2,700-mile journey (4 345 km) to the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).

A Tesla Roadster began its journey yesterday, from Tesla’s Los Angeles store. It went to Palm Springs, where sales representatives hosted test drives for prospective customers.

The Roadster Sport, which will be used for this trip, is powered by an electric motor that accelerates from naught to sixty in 3.7 seconds. It will be driven by 16 Tesla employees.

"Tesla employees – including engineers, lawyers, recruiters and salespeople – will make dozens of stops nationwide for test drives, tech talks, customer-appreciation events and media opportunities. Tesla, which is aggressively recruiting mechanical and electrical engineers, is also swinging through college towns in Arizona, Texas and Illinois. The car will arrive in Detroit in advance of the North American International Auto Show, which starts Jan. 11," the carmaker said in a release.
