We all know that every success story is based on some type of epic journey which started it all. Whether we are talking about Jason and his quest for Golden Fleece, the first Europeans to have set foot in North America, or by the era ushered by Neil Armstrong and his first small step, epic journeys have formed the basis of a new world.
We know, comparing Tesla Roadster's recently announced 2,700-mile journey (4 345 km) to the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) with a trip to the moon is a bit of a stretch. But still, the trip itself may represent, years from now, moment-zero for all highway-capable electric vehicles.
"Tesla employees – including engineers, lawyers, recruiters and salespeople – will make dozens of stops nationwide for test drives, tech talks, customer-appreciation events and media opportunities. Tesla, which is aggressively recruiting mechanical and electrical engineers, is also swinging through college towns in Arizona, Texas and Illinois. The car will arrive in Detroit in advance of the North American International Auto Show, which starts Jan. 11," the carmaker said in a release.
The Tesla Roadster began its journey yesterday, from Tesla’s Los Angeles store. It went to Palm Springs, where sales representatives hosted test drives for prospective customers. The trip continues as listed on this website.
The Roadster Sport, which will be used for this trip, is powered by an electric motor that accelerates from naught to sixty in 3.7 seconds. It will be driven by 16 Tesla employees.
