The statement comes from somebody who has just taken delivery of his $380,000 McLaren 765LT, a supercar he took home to a garage that also includes a Ferrari F8 Tributo, a Ford GT40, a Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD, and another McLaren, the 720S.
Granted, he also owns a Tesla, but it didn't get a mention in that first paragraph for the simple reason it doesn't get an actual spot inside the garage. That's right, the EV is kept out like a worthless dog, but that's probably because using any of the others as a daily driver makes much less sense than jumping into the Tesla.

In case you haven't guessed already, we're talking about Brooks Weisblat, the guy running the Drag Times website and YouTube channel. He is a man who has literally made drag racing the focal point of his life, so if he talks about it, we all must assume he knows what he says.

The statement came following Tesla's release of the Model S Plaid official specs, a car Brooks is now in line to get. Just as a quick reminder, the EV maker promises a 1.99 second 0-60 mph sprint, a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h), and a quarter-mile time of 9.23 seconds with a trap speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The first Plaid deliveries should begin in just six weeks.

And then there's the Plaid+ Model S. The range-topper will come toward the end of the year, allowing the Plaid enough time to run havoc at the drag strip until the true daddy arrives. The Plaid+ is said to run the quarter-mile in under nine seconds thanks to an extra 100 or so hp (over the Plaid's 1,020 hp peak power).

"For drag racing, at least, the days of just combustion cars are pretty much done," Brooks concludes after going over the specs of the newly announced Teslas. "I mean, you just can't keep up with this kind of power that they're gonna be adding to these electric cars."

You could raise an eyebrow if this came from a deluded Tesla fan, but not from somebody who has just set a new stock car record in his McLaren 765LT. You can watch Brooks' entire take on the new tri-motor Model S with the refreshed interior in the video below and, if Tesla has any sense (or if it had a PR department), he should be among the first to receive the new car considering how much publicity his videos at the drag strip would make.
