When it comes to the hottest drag racing videos on YouTube as of late, the Tesla Model S P85D versus anything else genre is definitely at the top. After the dual-motor, all-wheel drive P85D uber electric sedan had its way with a Ferrari, a Lambo, an M4, a Challenger Hellcat and even a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic, the 691-pony all-electric sedan from Tesla returns with a new quarter-mile brawl.
On this ocassion, we’re dealing with a Porsche 911 Turbo S that weighs 3,588 lbs (1,627 kg) according to the man that posted the video below. Correction - the 997 Porsche 911 Turbo S is rated by the manufacturer at 3,487 lbs (1,585 kg) sans any optional extra. Furthermore, we’re told that the brawler from Stuttgart is boasting with 560 HP, but that’s a little off as well. As standard, the former-gen 911 Turbo S claims 390 kW, which translates to 523 ponies, not the 560 ponies we are told it has in the adjacent clip.

It would’ve been a bliss if the uploader were to mention whether the 997 went through a little bit of go-faster tuning, but before we head over to press play, we have to mention a few more things. First of all, the main contender. With 691 horsepower and a heck of a lot of torque under its belt, the Model S P85D is also a pretty heavy vehicle, tipping the scales at a gargantuan 4,936 lbs (2,239 kg). Still, it’s able to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in only 3.2 seconds (3.1 in the near future), which is slower than the 997 Porsche 911 Turbo S’ 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) run of 2.8/2.9 secs.

On paper, things look bad for the Tesla Model S P85D. Without a shadow of surprise, the actual drag race favors the PDK-shifting two-door coupe from Germany, even without initiating the much fabled launch control feature on the second drag race. After all is said and done, the modified 997 Turbo S owner drag races an all-out Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. Specifications sitrep for the Raging Bull from Sant’Agata: 690 HP, 509 lb-ft (690 Nm), a single-clutch automatic gearbox, 3,472 pounds (1,575 kilograms) and 2.9 seconds to 60 mph. This time around, the brawl is extremely close on paper.

As you will see in the attached video, the Aventador suffers greatly because of its archaic single-clutch automatic transmission, but it still manages to keep ahead of the 997 Turbo S just slightly. Towards the end of the clip, a GoPro action camera falls off, suction cup mounting and all, the Model S P85D, a feat that also takes its toll on the Hero’s skeleton case. Alas, the uploader thought up a very funny goodbye for its trusty camera, which will definitely make you LOL: “RIP GoPro Hero 3+ 2014 - 2015; If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling.” (The g-forces from the Tesla were just too much for him to handle.)”
