Tesla Delivered 11,507 Model S EVs in Q2 of 2015, a New Record for the Company

We haven't heard any official news from Tesla for a while and were wondering what is Elon Musk up to now after the Model 3 launch date was pushed further.

But, you know how they say, "speak of the devil and he will appear.'"

Just yesterday we were telling you about how Tesla Motors' upcoming Model X electric crossover managed to gather an estimated of 24,000 reservations, and now we have new intel on Tesla Model S sales performance.

Tesla put up an announcement on their website saying Elon Musk's brand delivered 11,507 vehicles in Q2 of 2015. Also, this is a new record for the Palo Alto-based company for the most cars sold in a quarter and represents an approximate 52% increase over Q2 last year.

As you might know, Tesla is not releasing monthly sales data but this year, the carmaker has delivered 21,552 Model S sedans up to now.

On this note, Elon Musk's goal involving 55,000 Model S and Model X vehicles delivered this year will not be an easy-attainable one, even if we consider there are 24,000 reservations for the Model X, as we told you earlier.

Info on the Model X is slowly starting to emerge, although Tesla officials are keeping their lips tied when it comes to the new crossover. However, the car's towing capacity has been revealed by Jim Chen, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Tesla as being "close to 10,000 pounds” or 4,535 kg.

We'd be more interested in the car's powertrain as we expect a 95 kWh battery pack capable of handling the extra strain without running out of juice too fast.
