Tesla Cybertruck was rushed to the market with many missing features, including driver assistance systems. Not only is Full Self-Driving software unavailable, but the Cybertruck also lacks basic Autopilot, annoying owners. Musk confirmed that this is not a priority for Tesla, which focuses on "FSD for the other 99% of the fleet." However, the Cybertruck might get FSD in the second half of the year.
"Rushed to the market" might not sound accurate for a product delayed for years before being released to a small number of carefully selected customers. Still, that's the impression the Cybertruck is giving people. Despite the missed deadlines, Tesla's electric pickup truck still lacks important features. And even though Tesla teams have been working hard to fill the gaps, not all of the missing features have been introduced.

Owners are still waiting for Tesla to unlock better charging performance for the 4680 cells, although this might not happen soon. However, a recent software update introduced Cabin Overheat Protection just in time for the hot season. In a move hailed as the dawn of a new era for the Cybertruck, Tesla also added a revamped Off-Road app, offering new features for adventure seekers. This includes locking differentials, which are crucial in difficult terrain.

However, one missing feature might still not be available soon on the Cybertruck: Tesla Full Self-Driving. Even though the FSD capability is an important part of the Foundation Series package, worth $20,000, owners are still unable to experience the wonders of automated driving. Not only that, but basic driver assistance features are also missing, making the Cybertruck one of the least capable vehicles on the market. No Basic Autopilot and no park assist (or even parking visualizations) are available on the Cybertruck.

That must be annoying for all the celebrities who bought a Cybertruck. We've already seen Pharell Williams struggling to park his Cybertruck before abandoning the idea as onlookers laughed, photographed, and filmed the embarrassing moment. I'm sure he is not the only one wishing the Cybertruck had some sort of parking assistance like all other vehicles produced in the 21st century.

Unfortunately, they will have to wait until Tesla decides the Cybertruck is important enough to see some love from developers. In the last days of 2023, Elon Musk explained that the Cybertruck was Tesla's lowest priority regarding FSD and other driver assistance features, considering the small number of vehicles delivered. More than four months later, Musk hasn't changed his position, even though the delivery numbers must have increased substantially.

Cybertruck owners keep asking Musk for an FSD timeline, although most would be happy with some basic lane-keeping and parking assistance. In the most recent reply to such an inquiry, Musk again said that the Cybertruck is not a priority. "We must focus on FSD for the other 99% of the fleet," said Musk. However, he promised that "Cybertruck FSD is a few months away."

This means a few months until Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and others get to activate FSD and start posting about it. For many, this seems like a missed opportunity, considering Tesla's push for autonomous driving. Having all these celebrities rave about Full Self-Driving would've given Tesla a lot of visibility with little effort.
