Swedish Singer Robyn Makes Volvo Look Cool and Responsible

Volvo is as proud of its National heritage as it is or its green cars. The Swedish automaker is making that very clear of late with inspiring videos that show helping our environment is so much more than hugging a tree.
We absolutely loved their piece featuring football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, shot in the toughest sub-arctic conditions, subjectively speaking of course. "Made by Sweden" part 2 is now back to  show a softer, gentler side of the brand, featuring a night drive through Los Angeles with famous singer Robyn, done to promote their new line of Drive-E clean engines.

The automaker tells us Robyn is the perfect brand ambassador for them, the most successful contemporary Swedish pop star who is "an example of iconoclastic and independent-minded Swedishness."

“I like Volvo, and I like what the company and the brand stands for,” says Robyn. “For instance, Volvo is a Swedish company that invented the three-point safety belt, but didn't patent it because they knew that would mean fewer people could use a safer belt. I like things like that. This campaign promotes a wide-reaching environmental project, and after a lot of research I realized it can really make a difference."

In 2004, the singer stopped her collaboration with a music label and struck out on her own with Konichiwa Records. This, it seems, is what Volvo is striving to do right now, putting aside its Ford Motor Company days with new products developed in hose. Maybe the V60 is not an ideal candidate to show that, since it owes its early development to a platform shared with both Ford and Land Rover.

If you're into the Swedish way of doing things, Robyn and doing your part for the environment, this is a clip worth watching. If not, at least know that Volvo's brand new T6 engine from the Drive-E family is a 2-liter that produces the same output as a 3-liter with much lower emissions, thanks to the use of both a supercharger and a turbocharger.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
