Japanese carmaker Suzuki claims that its new SX4 crossover, which was moved into the larger C-segment, will outsell the current smaller version.
"We have never had before a car like this, especially with its rear luggage space of 430 liters, which is among the best in its class," Suzuki Europe boss Takanori Suzuki told Automotive News Europe.
Bigger and roomier than the outgoing model, the new SX4 will be 165 mm longer and will be the first Suzuki vehicle to offer a 1.6-liter diesel engine sourced from Fiat. There will be a gasoline unit as well, with five-speed and six-speed manual transmissions.
Set to go on sale in September 2013, the SX4 will be built in Hungary. A new subcompact crossover based on the new SX4 will be launched in spring 2015 to rival cars such as the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur.
No pricing for the Suzuki SX4 has been released yet.
