Suzuki Endurance Racing Team Wins the 2011 Bol D'or

The 2011 24 h Bol D’or Endurance Race was won by Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT) with Vincent Philippe, Anthony Delhalle and Freddie Foray steering the Japanese machine to victory.

With this win, SERT scores its fourth consecutive victory at the Bol D’or in a race that was led from start to finish by the amazing team. They didn’t have any apposition from the other teams, only the Team SRC Kawasaki with Julien da Costa, Gregory Leblanc and Olivier Four managed to keep up the pace with the leading team.

SERT won the competition with a six lap margin from “the green machine”, while in third place finished BMW Motorrad France 99. They managed to achieve this performance thanks to their two top riders, Sébastien Gimbert and Erwan Nigon, who did all they could in the last minutes of the race in order to prevent the Bolliger Team Switzerland Kawasaki from stealing the last step of the podium from them.

This podium is the first for the BMW S 1000 RR machine in the QTel FIM Endurance World Championship and by the looks of things, it will definitely not be the last this season.

SERT failed to beat the record for the most covered laps in the Bol D’or event, with 814 against the current record of 815 for the 2009 event. Just 35 teams managed to finish the 2011 24 hours Bol D’or Endurance Race.

Three different manufacturers (Suzuki, Kawasaki, BMW) are on the podium of the 75th Bol D’or race and also three different tyre manufacturers (Dunlop, Pirelli and Michelin) made it on the podium, and all this means one thing - there will be a hard battle for the 2011 QTel FIM Endurance World Championship crown.
