If you ever doubted global warming is a real thing maybe the knowledge that this July was the warmest month in the history of mankind (or, at least, since we've been measuring such stuff) will put some of those doubts to rest.
Averaging 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1.0 degree Celsius) above the long-term average, as per the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), July was scorching hot, and most of us here on the planet felt that.

By comparison, the still-hot August seems like a breeze, but it still kind of makes people want to ditch the 9 to 5 working hours and head out to where they know it's cool, in the waters of our oceans and seas. Especially given how this summer doesn't have much life left in it, at least as far as the calendar goes.

What better time then for Yamaha, the maker of some of the world's best and widespread range of jetskis to announce improvements to the line of vehicles known as the WaveRunner?

Born in the late 1980s, the family of personal watercraft, as Yamaha calls them, has come to be one of the most appreciated in its field. And for the 2024 model year the offering seems to remain at the top of its game.

Diving head-on in the pool of prospective customers for next year, the WaveRunner range will offer no less than 11 different models. All of them pass over from the current model year, but just two of them remain untouched. All the rest benefit from anything from new colors to a bigger engine.

We'll start with the most important change, the introduction of a bigger high-output engine. Based on the 1,812cc unit already deployed on these machines, its displacement was taken to 1,898cc. Yamaha does not say how that improves performance, but it does say the new engine will be available on the GP, FX Cruiser, FX, and VX Cruiser.

Separately, all the FX WaveRunners will from now on benefit from a new 7-inch touchscreen. This will allow riders to select one of several available drive modes, including Economy, Towing, Performance, Comfort. Custom modes can also be specified.

On the visual front, aside from the availability of new color schemes and racing-inspired graphics, not much will change. The WaveRunners' new colors schemes for the 2024 model year include Deep Purplish Blue Metallic, and Black Solid with Torch Red Metallic hull and Matte Bluish White details.

Yamaha does not say when the 2024 WaveRunner range will become available, and we have no info on pricing. More details are expected though, especially considering how the Japanese company is planning to reveal a new motto for the range.

Called Run the Water, it was "designed to encourage riders to explore a different side of the water and go beyond the ordinary to experience something new." What that means will be made clear soon.
