When it comes to Japanese cars, Subaru have their very own niche. It's not premium, or cheap, not good or bad, it's exactly average. Fans of the brand will tell you they will drive noting else than a Subaru, but looking from the outside in, it's hard to understand them.
One very visible aspect of their quirkiness is in their concept car design. For example, at this year's Tokyo Motor Show, they introduced the Cross Sport Design Concept. From the front it looks like a BRZ, but from the back it takes a sporting brake shape.
Still no word as to whether Subaru is going to make this car or not. But rumors from Japanese media say they will make it with a CVT gearbox and a full engine lineup that will include lesser 1.6 boxer units.
This interview take on sight at the Tokyo Motor Show sees the designer of the Sport Design Concept. He says that customers who enjoy a sporty lifestyle need practicality as well. Such a car is not just about going fast, but about the way it makes you feel. The designer says this is a new segment they call sports utility.
A baby Ferrari FF doesn't sound half bad, does it?
