In case you’ve been wondering what’s going on with Subaru’s WRX STI, the sports saloon has finally made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show and the company has also confirmed its price, now being GBP 4,000 lower than the previous-generation model. Although we’re talking about a cheaper car, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any improvements. On the contrary, the said vehicle features a significant range of modifications and upgrades that have been made to the chassis, interior and packaging of the new STI as well as body. It seems that the chassis and the body have been stiffened in order to improve torsional rigidity. Moreover, the company has also paid a lot of attention to the he new hydraulic steering system, which uses a quicker ratio and stiffer steering rack, the suspension being performance-tuned in order to provide a a flat but comfortable ride. Concerning the engine, the new WRX STI is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged version of Subaru’s iconic, horizontally-opposed four-cylinder Boxer engine that promises 300PS at 6,000rpm and 407Nm toque at 4,000rpm. Moving on to the design, Subaru gave its new car a makeover and at the same time made it more spacious. Also, the cabin has been tended to, soft touch materials being used to contrast the carbon-effect and metal trim features. So, we’re looking at an interesting mix of sportiness and high quality ambiance. Thus, this particular Subaru is indeed quite attractive and the company’s decision to price it at just GBP 28,995 is a very good advertising weapon.
