Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C Launched

Subaru today announced the launch of the Impreza WRX STI spec C, a new model based on the Impreza WRX STI that comes with engine and chassis upgrades. Already available in Subaru dealerships in Japan, the car is featuring several engine tweaks so it now provides quicker response and improved accelerating performance.

Among the main enhancements of the engine performance we can mention the addition of an intercooler water spray that prevents rise in intake-air temperature, which translates into constant engine performance and improved efficiency. Furthermore, ball bearings of the turbine axle were newly adopted to reduce friction in the turbocharger, Subaru explained, which means the 2.0-liter 16V turbocharged unit that generates 308 horsepower is now benefiting from a smoother and quicker response to the throttle.

But that's not all. Subaru also made some changes to the suspension system, including enhancements of the damping force of suspensions, coil spring rate, rear stabilizer and rear sub-frame. The car is now shoed with Bridgestone “POTENZA RE070” 245/40R18 tires and sports rear LSD (Limited Slip Differential) for steady and powerful traction during cornering.

The body is also lighter, as the spec C comes with an aluminum engine hood and a downsized battery. Laminar glasses were adopted in the front and side windows while the 18-inch alloy wheels reduce unsprung weight. Additionally, a flat tire repair kit is standard.

Other features include Recaro seats, front bucket seats standard on models with 18-inch alloy wheels and gold-colored Brembo brake calipers. It is offered in two exclusive exterior colors, Sunrise Yellow and Pure White. The whole range is limited to 900 units.
