Last month, we showed you the first images of the Mazda TAKERI Concept which is coming to the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show and will preview the next generation of Mazda6 four-door. The mid-size sedan made use of the Japanese automaker’s KODO design language and featured SKYACTIV tech (it is powered by a SKYACTIV-D diesel unit), including the company’s first regenerative braking system.
Now it’s time to get to the nitty gritty of real world testing with the first sighting of a test mule that was spotted by our dedicated team of photographers in Germany. This is only an early prototype as all the metal belongs to the current Mazda6.

But it’s not just a case of new looks and SKYACTIV engines with this car, because some more radical changes can clearly be seen, among them being some bigger wheel arches. We think that the Mazda6 has a good chance of becoming wider and longer judging by the mule.

Interestingly enough, the engineers were trying to throw us off by taping a Toyota badge onto the nose of the Mazda6 mule.
