When Jaguar presented its crossover concept in Frankfurt a couple of months ago, they let slip that they might be thinking about going for small four-cylinder engines in the future. It seems we won't have to wait for the XQ to reach production though, as a four-cylinder unit is currently being developed for the F-Type as well.
Right after we tested their new roadster, I said the car needed a smaller entry-level engine to lower the price, and it seems Jaguar was thinking the exact same thing.
Our man with the long camera lens tells us this particular test car had the distinct sound of a 4-banger as it was testing in Southern Europe. Of course, the 2-liter roadster will also be joined by a similar coupe model. With that car just a few days away from its debut, surprises could be on the way.
