This next set of spy photos taken in Sweden raise a whole lot of questions that will likely remained unanswered. Why is the snow melting in Scandinavia? Why is the driver flipping the bird? And what is up with that prototype?
Our story can only hope to answer that final question. The vehicle the prototype is based on obviously hints at the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde or QV, for those who can't spell long Italian names. This is Alfa's biggest and most powerful hot hatch and it gets its grunt from a 1,750cc engine similar to the one in the 4C sportscar.
Our spy photographers are proposing they are working on a better QB with more aggressive bumper designs, a bigger wing and maybe even extra power. But we've never seen wing mirror camouflage like that before.
There is one report from Auto Express dating back to last October, which seems to indicate Alfa was considering a hotter Giulietta hatch with the 4C engine. According to that, the new hatch would boast 240 hp and would take just 6.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h, 0.3 seconds faster than before.
We're giving this prototype a 10% chance of being something else, something completely different. As you might have noticed, the Giulietta's architecture has been used by many Chrysler vehicles during development, including if we remember correctly the Dodge Dart. We could be looking at the next SUV from the Italian brand, who is considering production of a small SUV in Melfi and a large one in Mirafiori. As you can see, the test vehicle is being followed by an Evoque and two Jeep Cherokees are further up the hill.
The only problem with out theory is that the ground clearance is low and development of the SUVs was not supposed to be approve until later this year.
