Our spy photographers have captured some very interesting shots of a mysterious Audi R8 at the Nurburgring test track.
It’s clearly a V10 model, but not a facelift, and some of the components on it come from the 2012 R8 GT, the most hardcore version of the car of which only 333 were built.

Now, with the arrival of the facelift, Audi has stopped making the GT, instead offering the R8 V10 Plus model, which conspicuously stops just short of the GT’s performance.

This might be a prototype for yet another limited edition model. Audi R8 ultra anybody? But let’s examine what we can see. The mystery R8 features a matte blue paintjob, which Audi has never offered with black striping. The large vent in the hood, the added chin spoiler and the big wing at the back are all reminiscent of the R8 GT3 race car.

The wheels on the car are massive and barely fit inside the arches, the rear engine cover looks like plexiglass and rear wing looks adjustable. Either way, this is one awesome looking R8.
