Most people with a few hundred thousand to spare would love a Lamborghini Gallardo, but it’s too expensive and also a bit vulgar. The solution has always been taking your money to Porsche for a Carrera 4S. It’s still got all-wheel drive, and thanks to the nimble chassis and lower price, you really won’t miss it.
Seems simple enough, except four years ago, Audi dropped the R bomb in the form of a new sportscar called the R8. It was mid-engined, had a cool engine cover, elegant styling and either a V8 from the RS4 or the V10 from a Gallardo.

For 2013, Audi refreshed the R8 with new and controversial LED headlights, a new grille and some other minor cosmetic touches. The best news brought by the facelift is that instead of the dim-witted single clutch, the auto version of the R8 now comes with a double-clutch gearbox.

At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Marchettino filmed this 2013 Audi R8 V8 4.2 Spyder in white, featuring a red interior and a manual gearbox. We think he new front end isn’t a bad thing, but we’d have liked some power boosts for the engine range that never came.
