AirTags have become a must-have device for every car owner, as planting the tracker into the vehicle is a guarantee you'll be able to recover it if it gets stolen.
As many people learned the hard way, the AirTag often comes to the rescue, as it sometimes helps find stolen cars in hours. Police also recommend car owners to install AirTags in their cars, adding that calling 911 and providing the officers with real-time location information is critical in the first hours after the robbery.
Spigen has come up with a product that goes back to the original purpose of the AirTag.
Two years ago when it launched the AirTag, Apple advertised the product as a tracker for small things like wallets and car keys. The device has since evolved to become a pet tracker, as its small form factor allows the installation in almost every little spot.
Spigen believes the AirTag can still be a valuable car key tracker, so the company came up with a brilliant product that allows you to install the device into a Tesla key card.
The intuitively called Tesla Key Cad AirTag case is two-piece accessory that has enough space for the Tesla key card and AirTag. It looks premium, though this is unsurprising, considering it's a Spigen product, and is made of a scratch-resistant material to be very durable. Spigen says this model is compatible with all Tesla Key cards, and considering Apple launched a single AirTag model, with every tracker from the iPhone maker.
You can easily carry. The case around in your wallet, but it also comes with a carabiner for alternative attachments, such as to your backpack or purse. Most people will still keep it in their pockets (if they have large pockets, of course), but the big benefit here is that you can always recover it even it somehow slips out.
The new Tesla card with an AirTag slot is available for $24.99 on Amazon.
Meanwhile, Apple is believed to be working on a second-generation AirTag that will offer improved location accuracy and presumably better battery life. The AirTag doesn’t sport a rechargeable battery but a CR2032 unit. Because it doesn’t come with built-in Internet connection, the power consumption is very low. The AirTag connects to nearby iPhones to broadcast its location to the master device, so it should offer approximately six months of battery life per unit.
The AirTag has a small form factor and can be installed virtually anywhere in the car, but if you need some good places to make sure a thief wouldn’t spot the device, I've created a list with a few suggestions to get you started. As a general advice, keep in mind that the harder it is to reach, the bigger the chances for the thief to fail to find it.
