Someone Is Selling 56 White Porsche Cars in One Go, They Are Worth Over $30 Million

For one guy with seemingly endless supplies of money, said criteria included the words Porsche and white. For some reason, he found it useful to start amassing German-made sports and race cars painted only in this shade, to the point when his collection eventually grew to a total of 56 vehicles. And all of them are now for sale, during an auction of gargantuan proportions.

It was auction house RM Sotheby's that broke the news of the sale earlier this week. At its center is the so-called White Collection which will be sent under the hammer in Houston, Texas, in the first two days of December, with all 56 cars looking for new owners "in their original state, as delivered," and with "impressively low mileage."

The car collection is so massive that it'll probably take us weeks to go through it all (lucky for us the auction is still some two months away). The auction house did however share details on all the cars in the collection, so we'll start our coverage of these amazing machines with the most expensive ones.

Important to note before going into it is that all cars come in various types of white right from the factory floor. They've been amassed during a single decade, and are kept in a place described by those who've seen it as a Porsche sanctuary.

Combined, they are worth over 30 million dollars by the most optimistic of estimates. You should know however that the 56 cars are not the only ones going under the hammer as part of the incredible collection. They are accompanied by two Porsche tractors and about 500 other "accessories, posters, literature, tools, and rare parts" related to the German carmaker, all of which will likely drive the total value of the massive sale to well over $30 million.

We'll start with one of the two Porsches with a selling price estimated at $2 million. The first one I'm going to tell you about is a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight fitted with the Sport package. Collectors like to think of such a car as one of the most coveted air-cooled 911s ever made, and having one with under 32,000 miles (51,500 km) pop up doesn't happen every day.

Like all other cars in the collection, it retains the original Grand Prix White it came in, the matching numbers engine, and all the other German-made fittings.

The second white sports car that is also hoping to fetch $2 million is the 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S X85 Flat-Nose, a car so rare many of us never get to talk about, let alone actually see one. It is one of just 39 examples made for the American market, and one of just two to have been ordered in Grand Prix White over a Cashmere Beige leather interior.

A bit more expensive than the previous two, with a sale value estimated at $2.2 million, is the 1997 Porsche 911 GT2. This one was intended for the Japanese market, one of just 17 to do so, and it comes in Glacier White over a black leather interior. It shows a little over 15,000 (9,400 km) miles of use.

Coming in at $2.5 million is the 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8. Not only is it rare, as one of 51 made, but it's also the last one of its kind to roll off assembly lines. Adding to its uniqueness is the fact the 911 is the only other car of its kind (the Strassenversion) to have been fitted with a full leather interior by Porsche Motorsport. The car was barely used, as its instruments show just 70 km (43 miles of travel).

We'll end with the most expensive car on the lot, the 2015 Porsche 918 Weissach Spyder. Described as the crown jewel of the collection, it never got to properly spin its magnesium wheels, as the odometer inside is showing just 12 miles (19 km) of drive time.

It's an example in Grand Prix White pulled over a Yachting Blue leather interior, but the things that set it apart are the special Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur appointments and the Weissach performance package it wears.

As the only 918 Spyder ever to be specced this way, the Porsche has an estimated value of between $2.5 million and $3 million.
