Not surprisingly, this year's edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show will be packed full of crossover SUVs. We just showed you the very first photos of the new Mercedes GLA, but just in case your budget doesn't stretch that far, here's a cheaper alternative from the Czechs.
The Yeti just received its facelift, which gives it a much nicer appearance, somewhat akin to a cross between the VW Tiguan and the Mk3 Octavia. For the first time, you will be able to buy the Yeti in one of two forms. There's a sharper city version and a new Outdoor model with plastic bumpers and side protectors.

Both look much better than before, especially since the Yeti has dropped the round fog lights and, in keeping with Skoda new design language, adopted rectangular headlights with available bi-xenon bulbs and LED DRLs. Four new color options, fresh wheel designs and a revised interior complete the Yeti's transformation.

On the engine front, there isn't a new unit per say, but they have added start/stop across the range and increased the number of engine+drivetrain+transmission combinations. For example, until now, you could get DSG with the 2.0 TDI 4WD, but only with the lower 140 PS version, but now you can have it with the 170 PS unit as well. The front-wheel drive Yeti 1.6 TDI 77 kW is available with automatic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, whereas it only had a manual before.

The front-wheel drive 1.4 TSI/90 kW petrol engine with manual transmission is available exclusively with Green technology, which includes brake energy recover and low rolling resistance tires.
