The Yeti has served the Czech carmaker Skoda very well, and now the company is ready to diversify in order to increase its sales. According to a French publication, Skoda is already at work developing a rival to the Dacia Duster, which will be a bit more compact and cheaper as well.
The car already has a name – “Polar” – and a possible platform. According to speculation, the 2012 Taigun Concept shown only recently at the 2012 Sao Paulo Motor Show (picture above) could server as the basis for this Skoda compact SUV.

Of course, the Taigun looks like a crossover version of the VW Up!, which comes in three flavors in total if you count the SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo. And of course SEAT also has plans for a crossover to arrive in 2015.

The Polar name was recently trade, and given its similarity to the “Yeti”, it’s clear that we’re getting another SUV. That much is certain, but the rest of this story will have to be panned out over the next few years.
