Nissan Juke Coming to Australia?

Nissan Australia previously ruled out bringing the Juke compact crossover over as an import. However, the unique styling cues have won this car many fans across the world, and it’s now a huge sales hit for the Japanese automaker.

Nissan Australia’s new CEO and managing director Bill Peffer says the decision to bring the car over as an import is being reconsidered.

“We continue to have very frequent conversations about Juke,” Peffer told at the launch of the Nissan Leaf electric car in Sydney. “In fact, we have some visitors coming out [this] week and that is one of the primary topics [of discussion].”

In his previous position as director of Nissan North America’s marketing and communications department, Peffer saw just what a valuable market tool the five-door compact crossover is. Thus, he became a fan of the car and is building a case.

“If you look at our brand in Australia … we’re not that different from Europe,” Peffer said. “We do well with commercial vehicles, we have some spectacular halo products, we’re growing in the SUV space … this is where we’re strong.”
The tricky part will be offering the Juke as a cheaper crossover than the Dualis (Australian for Qashqai).
