SUVs have long been the subject of ridicule with some people claiming they aren't used for anything other than taking kids to school or soccer practice. Well, tell that to the Joneses.
Skoda is trying to prove a point here, and it has chosen a family living in a remote cottage in Wales to do it. In fact, the Czech manufacturer has been feverishly looking for the Joneses in its attempt to find the 'country's most extreme school run,' and after careful consideration, their route has been found to be the most challenging.

Based in a hamlet that will give you a tongue twist if you attempt to pronounce it - Pontrhydfendigaid, Ceredigion - this family of four is faced with adverse terrain and unpredictable weather conditions every time they leave their farm. "Why don't they move, then?" you'll ask, and the through probably went through their heads at some point as well.

If you clicked 'play' on the video below and watched the scenery that greets them every day, you'd understand. Just to get an idea, the land they own even includes a waterfall. How many non-billionaires can claim to have that?

And the Joneses definitely aren't billionaires. In fact, they regard the Skoda Kodiaq as a luxury vehicle, even though the Czech marque is Volkswagen's most accessible brand. However, looking at the beige interior and hi-tech features equipped on that particular Kodiaq they were driving, it's easy to understand why.

And it's also the shock of having those convenience features installed in a car so capable in such difficult conditions. The video doesn't say what car the Joneses drive at the moment, but the press release does note that if the road became too tricky, they could have considered taking Willow, the family's horse, instead.

Yes, this whole thing is a publicity stunt for Skoda Kodiaq's launch in the UK, but it's a very good one. The SUV is available to order there starting this month and comes with a base price of 21,495 Sterling Pounds. First deliveries will commence in early 2017.

This is what Sarah Jones, the more talkative wife, had to say about the trip: “We were hugely impressed with the Kodiaq and our journey to school was the smoothest we’ve ever experienced. It tackled flooded areas and hills with ease and we enjoyed the headroom and nice little extras such as the heated seats. The seven seats would definitely come in handy for collecting our children’s school mates and when they’re not being used, we can pop our dogs in the back. The kids really want us to buy one now!”
