Ford has done what it can to update the Fiesta with new tech and a different look in order to keep up with the competition. The car has been on the market since 2008 and is now facing ever stiffer competition from the Koreans (Kia Rio, Chevy Aveo), the new Clio and its constant enemy, the VW Polo.
The Fiesta was alway a good package in terms of style and chassis, and what the new one needed was efficient powertrains. Efficient usually also means clean, and this supermini now has no less than six powertrain options that go under the 100 gram per kilometer barrier.

New Ford Fiesta’s three award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol, two 1.6 TDCi and 1.5 TDCi diesel engines all emit under 100g CO2/km. This not only means they are exempt from the Vehicle Excise Duty and the London Congestion Charge, but can park free of charge in Essex County.

Ford has its UK headquarters, product development center and production facilities in the county, and you can bet the Fiesta will be a must-have there. This is a good example why this car is Britain’s favorite and has been since its launch. But only time will tell if the same can be said across Europe.

“Ford’s most efficient cars are rightly recognized by the operators of Essex’s green spaces and country parks.  The UK’s top selling car, the Ford Fiesta, can save on fuel and now on parking too right on our doorstep,” said Andy Barratt, Ford Britain sales director.
