Subtlety is the way to go when tackling a beloved classic, and Ares Design’s auto experts know it just as well.
Porsche 911s are some of the sexiest rides that’ve ever been produced, regardless of their generation. Not only do these beasts pride themselves with unrivaled performance on the tarmac, they also boast an iconic design language that defines four-wheeled elegance at its finest. Given the fact that Porsche’s timeless coupe is a true symbol of automotive grace, it’s no wonder today’s aftermarket manufacturers consider it to be a genuine treasure.

When thinking about neatly customized 911s, Singer Vehicle Design may be the first name that comes to mind, but other tuners seem to be doing a fairly sweet job on this machine, too. For instance, the custom creation we’ll be analyzing today hails from the Italian auto artists over at Ares Design, and it’s no less impressive in comparison to Singer’s masterpieces.

To be quite frank, Italy’s gifted specialists aren’t exactly new to this line of business, having amassed an incredible selection of two- and four-wheeled marvels since the company’s relatively recent foundation. In the past, we drooled over some of Ares' juiciest exploits, such as a widebody Land Rover Defender and a Tesla Model S that’s been transformed into a tasty convertible, to name but a couple.

As for their Porsche-based exploit, the original vehicle is a 911 Turbo from the German manufacturer’s 964 series. Under its hood, this bad boy houses a rear-mounted 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six powerplant that’ll be more than happy to deliver as much as 360 PS (355 hp) at 5,500 rpm. On the other hand, this wicked piece of twin-cooled machinery is fully capable of producing up to 384 pound-feet (520 Nm) of feral twisting force at approximately 4,200 revs.

A five-speed manual transmission distributes the engine’s oomph to a rear-wheel drive, leading to a whopping top speed of no less than 174 mph (280 kph). Furthermore, this whole shebang enables the 911 Turbo to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 kph) in just 4.7 seconds. Long story short, this creature is a force to be reckoned with even by today's standards.

Built as a one-off entity for a faithful customer, Ares Design’s bespoke 911 features an assortment of interior and bodywork tweaks to give it a personality of its own, as well as significant powertrain enhancements that’ll extract a healthy dose of additional force from the 3.6-liter fiend. For starters, the car’s rear end has been modified to accommodate a ducktail spoiler on its hood.

Next, the team proceeded to discard the stock wheels, thus making room for a set of fresh alloy counterparts enveloped in a handsome two-tone finish. Oh, and yes, these items resemble the mighty Fuchs rims that any self-respecting Porsche enthusiast will immediately recognize. Sure enough, the visual modifications work in unison to bring about them glorious mid-1970s Carrera 2.7 RS vibes.

As you step inside, you will find a reupholstered interior boasting leather and tartan fabric, as well as the tuner’s badges and new decorative parts on the doors and dashboard. Furthermore, the cabin also comes equipped with Porsche’s very own state-of-the-art infotainment setup and custom gauges behind the steering wheel.

Last but not least, the flat-six mill has been treated to a larger turbocharger and a top-shelf intercooler that’ll help it discover its true potential. As a result, its power output numbers have been dialed all the way up to 425 PS (419 hp), which is more than enough for a coupe of this size and weight! At this point, Ares Design hasn’t revealed any information on the vehicle’s performance figures nor the overall price for this one-off conversion, but you can be sure both are high.

One thing’s for sure; we’ve fallen in love with this 911 Turbo and we’ll bet you did too!
