1980 wasn't exactly the best year for the Corvette, as it witnessed a sales decline of 20 percent from 1979. However, Chevrolet sold over 40,000 units, most with the base L48 engine.
Rated at 195 horsepower on the 1979 Corvette, the engine dropped to 190 horsepower on the new model as Chevrolet struggled to meet emission standards.

The 1980 Corvette posted on eBay by seller peterwebdocmartin is probably the most original look you can take at Chevrolet's superstar.

Corvette rolled off the assembly lines with the L48 under the hood, and the same engine is in charge of moving the car today. Everything works exactly as expected, as the original and unrestored unit has been meticulously maintained to continue boasting the V8 coolness after all these years. The most special thing about the L48 isn't its current condition but the mileage. The odometer reads just 15,000 miles (a little over 24,000 km).

It's almost impossible to find something to hate about this Corvette. The exterior looks mesmerizing, and the seller explains the car has always been parked in a garage. The owner claims it looks just like it left the showroom, so you must check it out in person to understand how beautiful it is. Indeed, the Vette looks fantastic in the shared photos, and the paint (allegedly still original, seems flawless).

The interior is spotless, and it makes sense, given the mileage. The car spent more time inside than outside, so the previous owner didn't get the chance to drive it much. We're not getting more information about where the car has been sleeping since rolling off the assembly lines, but it's clear the owner meticulously cared for the vehicle during this time.

The 1980 Corvette was more expensive than its predecessor, and Chevrolet increased the price of the car no less than four times throughout the year. Eventually, the base Corvette was available for $14,345, up from the original price of $13,140 when the 1980 model was announced.

A time capsule in such a spotless condition retains its value, despite the 1980 Corvette not necessarily serving as a collector's dream. However, the low mileage makes the car a museum piece that many would be thrilled to have, so I expect the auction to catch the attention of Corvette fans quite fast.

The top offer at the time of writing is $7,100, and considering the auction started only a few hours ago, it's a matter of time until the price goes through the roof. The seller has also configured a reserve, so unless someone sends a higher bid, the Corvette stays where it is for a bit longer. To get the car without a fight, you must trigger the Buy It Now option and pay $27,500.
