A couple of days ago, Shelby American announced a couple of interesting projects, such as a widebody kit and some conversions for older model year cars.
The company will make plenty of new debut at both the Detroit Auto Show in January and New York Auto Show in April. The most important announcement, however, came in the form of a tease using Carroll Shelby’s own words: “I think you’re going to see the industry going completely to small engines with turbochargers. That’s the only way you can get the mileage that the government is going to be demanding.”

We’ve seen plenty of monstrous supercharged projects over the years, but never one based on a factory Ford EcoBoost. It could be that they are working on a tuned Focus ST, which in stock form comes with a 252 hp 2-liter.

However, Shelby has never been big on these sorts of cars, and so it’s far more likely that what they are actually preparing is tuned 3.5-liter EcoBoost.
