When my older brother was little, my grandmother on my mother's side didn't agree with something my father was doing, and came up with a line that's funny and irritating in equal measures, and might have played a role in my parents' divorce: "God allows all idiots to have children."
If you knew my grandmother, you'd realize this was in no way meant as a joke and, at least for the moment, she meant every word she said. My dad wasn't an idiot, and he wasn't such a bad father either, but her words instantly sprang to mind the moment I watched this clip, and I realized they would have been much more suited here.

It's a well-known fact that most kids - particularly boys - would like to drive a car as early as they can walk. That's why toy makers come up with pedal cars or, more recently, electric ones that allow them to control the speed the direction of the vehicle. But there comes an age when they outgrow those cars and parents are kind of left with no options.

But there is always an option to actually allowing your kid to drive the car on public roads, as this unbelievably ignorant mother is doing. "What's wrong with that?" some of you will say, "it looks safe and he's doing a very good job." Yes, he actually is, apart from the fact he's holding the wheel with one hand, and he's not wearing the seatbelt. Those are signs of recklessness for adult drivers, but when a kid is doing them, it's ten times more outrageous.

And of all the places, the kid is cruising through a quiet suburb. He may have better visibility there because of the wide sidewalks and whatnot, but it's still a place where the other seven-year-old ride their bicycles, or play soccer on a lawn. One ball kicked into the street, one kid rushing to get it back and one mistook pedal, and you're faced with a tragedy that will scar everyone involved for life. And for what? Just so a stupid mother could post a video bragging with her otherwise cute son driving the family's car?

The good news is the police was alerted to the video and charged the mother - a 34-year-old Florida resident called Kwaniqua Glenn - with child neglect. An even better news would be that she understood why it was dangerous and would do her best to prevent it from happening again. Which would probably mean locking the car keys in a safe for the rest of the little boy's licenseless life.
