Rider Almost Ran Off the Road by a Lady Receives Exemplary Help from Police

Even though not everybody loves police officers and the way the handle certain traffic situations, here's an exemplary display of how justice should be served.

Luckily, the rider has his camera turned on and recording when a lady ignores him and almost runs him out of his lane into oncoming traffic at a merger. The motorcycle is lawfully riding in the second lane and should have been given the right of way by cars in the first lane.

To most of us, doing a mirror and even a shoulder check before changing lanes sounds like commonplace, but this lady proves that such precautions are way too much for some motorists.

What is truly disturbing is not the very maneuver she makes, but the fact that she ignored the rider's repeated honking. Now, with the entire thing captured by the helmet cam, we reckon that the lady is in quite a bit of trouble, with charges of reckless driving or endangerment being likely to add to her rap sheet.

As for the confrontation part, opinions are mixed. Some say that the rider should not have confronted her and went straight to the cops instead, providing them with the footage and letting them track the lady down.

Other reasons for avoiding confrontation with such motorists is that one can't exactly tell what they are thinking. If these fellows are ignorant, reckless and dumb enough not to care about driving into a motorcyclist that rides abreast with them while honking and shouting, nobody could guarantee they'd not attempt to run the bike down on purpose. And when such things happen, the damage done to both iron and flesh&bone is, almost all the time, way greater and more painful.

What made our day was seeing how quick was the officer's response. Was he a rider himself? Maybe, maybe not. But we can tell that he understood very quickly how dangerous people who ignore the simple rules of zipper merging are and acted right away. Thank you, sir!
