Just Tell Spectators that Crossing the Track During the Race Can Get Them Killed

Mindless spectator causes a huge crash 1 photo

We've seen mindless spectators pretty in pretty much any motorsport, in motorcycle racing, in rally championships, and we've even seen the Pikes Peak.
Every now and then, a reckless idiot thinks that the best thing he or she can do is to cross the racing track...hoping that everything will be alright. Well, it doesn't take a race marshal to figure out that not everything plays out nice and smooth, and accidents on the track are real.

The video below is the perfect example demonstrating that mindlessness causes catastrophes. You can see a spectator wearing a red jacket trying to cross the track in one of the landing areas. This means that the poor fellow has zero visibility over the crest and also has no idea if there are any incoming bikes.

To his consummate bad luck, the moment he chooses to attempt the crossing is the worst possible. He is caught halfway across the track and hit by a bike in mid-air, being projected on the track.

The unfortunate rider also comes off the bike at high speed and comes crashing down, doing a front flip in the dirt. The spectator remains behind, and two more bikes run him over before crashing hard, as well.

The camera angle does not reveal if other spectators rushed before the ramp to alert riders and have them slow down. Luckily, if we can say so, no other bikes appeared flying over the crest, otherwise, things would have become apocalyptic.

With all the bystanders flocking to the track, just try to imagine how the scene would have looked if say, two more bikes appeared at full speed, crash-landing in the crowd.

Safety around motorsport racing events should never be taken lightly, and the trackside audience should also be instructed as to the dos and don'ts of attending such gatherings.
