SEAT Leon Cupra R Ready for Frankfurt Debut?

While some of you might think that Spanish carmaker SEAT is less busy nowadays, the company is continuously working on new projects and the first results might be released as soon as this autumn. According to a report by Autoblog Spanish, Volkswagen's division is getting ready to debut the so-called SEAT Leon Cupra R that would generate a maximum output of 265 horsepower.

Sure, this is only a rumor but taking into account the reticence of the guys working for SEAT, this might be indeed true. Nevertheless, according to the aforementioned source, the future SEAT model is likely to be revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.

It will be powered by the same engine as Volkswagen Scirocco R which gives us a hint into some sort of performance figures. Additionally, the car would incorporate lots of parts from its parent company, including its often-praised DSG dual-clutch gearbox, as well as a couple of new things such as AP Racing brakes, an upgraded suspension and sports seats.

The sportiness will probably be spotted in the exterior through several enhancements, including sporty bumpers, grille and alloy wheels, all of them providing a more aggressive stance on the road.

The recently facelifted SEAT Leon Cupra is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI engine that brings out a maximum of 240 horsepower and helps it sprint from 0 to sixty in 6.4 seconds. It is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 247 km/h (153.5 mph), while fuel consumption ratings go around 8.3 l/100km (28.3 mpg). It packs several standard features, including SEAT's XDS, ABS and TCS, ESP with EBA and sport suspensions.
